Contractor Trehøje has invested in a Terra Gator NMS 8133 for manure spreading.
Spreading manure is being done more often, while the regulations relating to the use of the nitrogen content of the manure are being tightened up and the manure quota lowered.
Sejer Petersen of Contractors Trehøje is one of the people who had the courage to invest in the future of manure spreading by choosing a machine that will only be used to spread manure - namely the Terra Gator NMS 8133.
This is a machine with three extremely wide wheels, with a relatively simple construction, but all the possibilities for advanced control functions.
Capacity of 50,000 cubic metres annually
For Trehøje it is essential to be able to apply 50,000 cubic metres of manure each season. This season begins on the 1st of February and lasts the whole summer.
It doesn't matter when, we spread the manure on any kind of terrain - from heavy soil, stubble fields to pastureland, says Sejer Petersen, owner of Trehøje.
The capacities vary from 200 to 1000 cubic metres per day, depending on the conditions on site and the distance from the manure tank to the field where the manure is to be spread.
The Terra Gator NMS 8133 has a steel tank holding 14 cubic metres which is filled within a minute using a tap on the right side. The tap can also be used to mix the manure and rinse the tank.
During the summer this mixing process is much faster, so the manure can be spread with a minimum of time loss, explains Sejer Petersen.
Operate from the driver's seat
The driver of the modern Terra Gator, as acquired by Trehøje, feels almost like the pilot of a small airplane.
Operation all takes place from the driver's seat, with clear to read displays in the cabin, says Torben Galsgaard, sales representative for Ag Chems products in Denmark.
He goes on to explain that all controls for the manure systems on the Terra Gator are located on the dashbord next to the driver.
The main functions are handle-operated and the driver does not have to look over his shoulder to operate the machine, says Torben Galsgaard.
The driver can set and read out data relating to the amount of manure spread per hectare from the PLC-display. The system ensures a constant, uniform spreading pattern.
Easy to turn
The three wheel construction makes the Terra Gator NMS 8133 easy to turn, even in the tightest of spaces.
The extremely wide wheels also have the advantage of not constantly driving in the same tracks. This creates very low pressure on the ground surface according to Sejer Petersen.
His clients obviously want their fields to be damaged as little as possible when manure is spread, particularly pastures and meadows.
