Light footprint speeds specialist earthmoving

Terra Gator 2104 Tracked Dumpers are the fastest, most efficient method of hauling loads over soft, wet ground. Equipped with four custom-built rubber-track units, they are the only vehicles designed specifically to carry 12m³ loads and payloads of up to 15t across the softest terrain.

A development from the Terra Gator Wheeled Dumpers, the machines are ideally suited to working in the most arduous conditions, allowing contractors to maintain outputs in the most difficult conditions.

Tracked Dumpers feature:
· Purpose-designed and built rubber track units
· Powerful but economical 325hp, 8.1 litre engine
· TerraShift 11F/3R powershift transmission
· 25km/hr maximum speed
· 12m³ capacity dumper with 15t load capacity
· Full rotation chassis articulation point
· Articulated steering

Tracks spread the load

Each axle is equipped with heavy duty rubber track drive units, built to Ag-Chem specifications. The tracks reduce ground pressure, for a loaded vehicle weight of about 35t, to just 0.5kg/sq cm. This is achieved by using 0.91m wide rubber belts with a 1.89m long tread, spreading the load on each track over a 2m² area.

The tracks’ light footprints not only spread and support the weight of the vehicle and load over a wide area, but also provide additional traction in poor conditions. This allows the machines to keep operating in soft, wet conditions that would stop a conventional articulated dump trucks (ADT) or trailed dumpers. The ability to work on more days provides the opportunity for contractors to run at much higher productivity rates than using wheeled machines, allowing them to increase the percentage of chargeable hours.

The high flotation ability means, in some specialist cases, the Tracked Dumpers are able to operate on ground that may otherwise require temporary road surfaces to be laid to support wheeled dumpers. Again this provides contractors with considerable savings.

Powerful engine with flexible transmission

The TerraGator 2104 Tracked Dumper’s powerful engine also contributes to its high productivity. The six-cylinder unit, which delivers a peak of 325hp, allows the machines to not only shift high payloads, but also have the power reserves to keep going in the difficult terrain.

The engine is a perfect match for the TerraGator 2104’s TerraShift powershift gearbox, which offers seamless shifting through 10 forward speeds and three reverse gears. A single joystick on the side console provides push-button control of the gears, which eases operation.

The 25km/hr maximum speed, combined with the tracks’ flotation abilities, helps to lift output by allowing the vehicles to maintain high working speeds. Also the tracks operate with minimum slip, reducing rutting on haul roads as well as lowering machine and tyre wear that is associated with spinning wheels.

Dump box design eases emptying

The Terra Gator 2104 Tracked Dumper has a 12m³ capacity dump body, which offers a payload of up to 15t. This is mounted above the rear chassis section and is connected to the front, power unit, through a fully rotating articulated mounting. This allows it to tip safely, even on sloping ground, while the cab section remains level.

The box shape and tipping angle of 64° is designed to help dump material quickly, without clinging to the sides, resulting in a tipping time of just 16 seconds. At maximum tip height the body is supported on back of the vehicle’s chassis.
