With their ability to cover more ground faster, the Challenger Spra-Coupe 7450 and 7650 self-propelled sprayers help users to make full use of every vital spraying opportunity. Powerful 174hp engines, large capacity tanks and hydraulic front-wheel assist mean the machines keep working for longer.
Features include:
· 6-cyl, Caterpillar 6-litre, 174hp engines
· Six-speed Caterpillar Powershift transmission
· Working speeds up to 25km/hr
· Low volume applications between 50-100 litres/ha
· All-round independent suspension
· Hydraulically powered front-wheel assist option
· Exceptional ground clearance up to 1.2m
· Hydraulic track width adjustment
· Hypro 9303 centrifugal pump (300 litres/min)
The 7000 Series builds on the best Spra-Coupe tradition and are designed specifically to work at high speeds – up to 25km/hr – and applying low water rates, between 50-100 litres/ha. This allows these nimble machines to provide the output and performance required by today’s demanding operators.
Pressures on farmers world-wide mean that equipment is now expected to work for longer periods and cover much larger areas than ever before. The Challenger Spra-Coupe 7000 models help cut costs with their ability to cover more ground, faster than more traditional machines.
Powerful engines for optimum outputs
Both models are powered by new electronically controlled six cylinder, 174hp Caterpillar 3056E engines that produce maximum power at 2,500rpm. The six-litre capacity engines generate their high torque of 640Nm down at 1,400rpm, which is a torque rise of 37%, providing the pulling power to negotiate steep hills and soft ground with ease. A specially-designed cooling package, with side-by-side radiator, uses all-aluminium construction and plate-fins to ensure the motors run at peak efficiency.
The new six-speed Cat PG115 electronic powershift transmission allows the machine to always operate at the correct speed for the conditions and application. The integral torque converter delivers the power smoothly and efficiently to the wheels to a top speed of 40km/hr. When the going gets tough the 7000-Series’ standard front-wheel assist steps in, delivering the extra traction when and where it’s needed most. Powered by a load-sensing hydraulic pump driving two-speed wheel motors, this can be shifted in an out to suit all conditions.
Exceptional ground clearance
As users have come to expect from Spra-Coupe, both models provide exceptional ground clearance – 1,067mm on the 7450, rising to 1,219mm on the 7650. Operator comfort and boom stability are enhanced by the Spra-Coupe independent suspension system, with struts and springs on the oscillating front axle and separate ‘knee-action’ coil springs and dampers incorporated into the chain cases on each side of the rear axle.
Track width can be varied hydraulically – in 50mm increments on each side – allowing operators to quickly set the width to match the rows. The axles can be set from 1.80m to 2.25m on the 7450, and between 2.2m to 3.2m on the 7650.
Fast, accurate application
Spra-Coupes are renowned their precise and effective application – working at high speeds and applying low volumes – between 50-100 litres/ha. Heart of the spraying system is a powerful, hydraulically-driven Hypro centrifugal pump. This can be finely tuned to apply outputs from 300 litres/min right down to rates as low as 20 litres/min, precisely matching product requirements and field conditions.
To meet the demands of high-capacity users, both machines are equipped with large, 2,600 litre capacity ‘poly’ tanks, with a 65-litre rinse tank. The fully automatic Raven 4000 controller looks after applications, monitoring volumes to precisely match the delivery of the product to the booms, regardless of forward speed. The controller is mounted at eye level on the front right cab pillar, in the perfect position to allow operators to keep an eye on all operations.
Simple, convenient control is ensured thanks to the new floating armrest with integral console. This places all the important functions close to hand with the joystick placing all the main vehicle and spray operating functions at the operator’s fingertips.
New booms, currently offered in widths up to 27m wide (steel) or 30m wide (aluminium), are engineered for high stability and durability. These are protected with full boom and tip break-backs. The left and right sides fold independently and have multiple section shut-offs, which provide precise control of the application width.
Operators will also appreciate the multi-tip nozzle holder assemblies, which can be quickly swivelled around to select a different nozzle tip, should conditions or products change. This, again, is designed to reduce downtime and increase overall outputs.
Boom height is adjusted hydraulically to ensure the nozzles are set at the optimum distance from the target to ensure perfect applications in all crops and conditions. The boom on the 7450 can be set anywhere from 50cm to 1.93m, and between 50cm and 2.0m on the larger 7650.
Cab offers comfort, control and convenience
To help maintain high outputs during long working days both models in the 7000 Series are equipped with high specification, pressurised cab fitted with active carbon filters. To complement the vehicle’s fully-independent suspension, the cab is mounted on rubber isolators that absorb vibrations and noise. An air sprung seat and air-conditioning are standard.
A large, curved glass to floor front screen along with fully glazed entry door and narrow posts offer a superb all-round view. The ergonomic control layout clusters functions either on the floating armrest or within easy reach, resulting in an eye-pleasing and clutter-free working environment.
