Still, range changes under load are just as easy with the AutoPower VI. The operator need only depress the range button on the control handle while moving the lever forward or backward. That’s all there is to it. The simple, straightforward procedure allows easy progression from minimum speed to maximum speed, and lets you quickly find the optimum balance of engine speed and travel speed for any type of job

The AutoPower VI also incorporates a rotary-dial controller that provides automatic shifting in different modes, including speed matching and autodrive. In the autodrive mode, the operator selects the desired engine speed between 1,600 and 2,200 rpm, which, controls the upshift and downshift points at which the transmission automatically selects the next AutoPower ratio. Shifts are electronically actuated in response to both engine speed and load, providing full power and torque control, as well as engine braking.

In the “Road” mode, the transmission changes both the AutoPower ratio and the gear range allowing the tractor to pull away and accelerate to top speed without the operator shifting gears.  In the “Field” mode, only the AutoPower ratio is changed automatically allowing the tractor to shift up or down through the 6 ranges as required by the draft force.
