Duluth, GA –– The Challenger PT Series windrowers feature an innovative design and high performance like no other on the market today. These windrowers are fast in the field, without compromising crop value.
The Challenger PT Series windrowers consist of three models.
Challenger PTD10
The PTD10 model operates with six counter-rotating discs that cut a 9-foot-3-inch swath. The model comes with either rubber on steel conditioning or TiCor? rollers.
Challenger PTD12
The PTD12 combines center-pivot maneuverability with eight discs and a 12-foot wide swath. This model can be equipped with rubber on steel, TiCor or steel-on-steel conditioning rolls.
Challenger PTD15
The PTD15 is a high-capacity, center-pivot machine that delivers fast, clean cutting with 10 discs and a 15-foot-3-inch width of cut. This model operates with the steel on steel rollers.
Unmatched Performance and Value
“The Challenger PT Series windrowers set industry standards for performance, versatility and reliability,” says Bill Gearhart, sales engineer, Challenger hay equipment.
The PT Series windrowers are designed with conditioner roller systems that crimp, rather than crush the crop. This allows stems to lose moisture without losing valuable leaves. The conditioner rolls are mounted to the head rather than to the frame, so the crop feeds uniformly into the conditioner rolls. The rollers are wide enough for the crop to spread out evenly for uniform crimping. These windrowers can produce wide, fast-drying swaths, or a deep, fluffy windrow.
Rugged Design
The Challenger PT Series windrower features a rugged box-beam frame that carries and supports the header. This gives better ground clearance and flotation and allows the header to closely follow the contours of the field.
Each model has a spur gear design so each gear assembly and adjacent idler gear can be individually removed and serviced. Because of the machines’ gear-to-gear drive system, the windrowers have a low profile for closer cutting.
All models have a unique eccentric linkage that allows the conditioner rolls to temporarily separate, eject a slug, then reset automatically. The PTD12 model and PTD15 model have a special turbulence reduction roll that allows the escape of air turbulence, dirt and debris. This allows cleaner cutting in light crops.
A highly maneuverable swivel hitch is standard on the PTD15 and an option on the PTD12. Two gearboxes are positioned to transfer power to the drive shaft during tight turns without damage to the driveline.
Unsurpassed Service and Support
Challenger PT Series windrowers are sold, serviced and supported by Caterpillar dealers. The Caterpillar dealer network is world-renowned as the best-trained, most responsive dealer in the business. They are second to none in on-location service. Each dealer is linked to a 24-hour-a-day parts network to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. Their mobile service trucks carry more tools and diagnostic equipment than most repair shops.
