The comfortable, quiet cab on the CH654C combine is vibration-free features an ergonomically designed armrest console, air conditioning and tinted glass as standard.

The armrest is attached to the right of the seat and consolidates all the important operating elements into one convenient unit, including the adjustable multi-function lever.

A straightforward, adjustable Datavision screen enables the operator to see up to eight different functions at once, ensuring you are getting the best from your machine at a glance.

By having one clear point of reference, Datavision makes operation easier without unnecessary cost and time loss.

Its diagnostic feature helps save time when servicing and logging information provided on yield and combine performance forms the basis for Precision Farming.

The following control systems can be specified:

  • Pre-set cutting height for effortless headland turns.
  • Cutting height control for even stubble height.
  • Field pressure control giving the lowest possible cutting height, speeding up your harvest in difficult conditions.
  • Auto Level table continuously adjusts the table left and right to follow the contours of the field.
  • Auto reel speed adjusts reel speed to ensure your selected ‘forward speed to reel speed ratio’ is maintained as you harvest.
  • Schumacher knife system offers high performance with rugged durability. The ‘under and over’ cutting process gives quality cutting in all conditions.

Designed for high flexibility, Challenger’s PowerFlow table offers easy conversion and maintainence minimises downtime. Its massive knife-to-auger clearance and powered conveyor belts combine to give head-first, even feed into the machine - working with all crops, in all conditions.

An eight-bar threshing cylinder with heavy-duty backing bars ensures smooth, even crop flow with constant speed.

The highly-permeable concave has an additional front rub bar for early threshing, resulting in a clean grain sample with maximum separation.

The concave opens to 40mm to handle even more throughput and is set and adjusted via the in-cab Datavision screen. A wide concave setting allows more crop to flow through and on easy-to-thresh crops like oilseed rape, it helps cut power and fuel consumption. Over-threshing can be prevented in other small grain crops by opening up the concave, providing more crop-on-crop threshing to separate more grain from the straw.

A solid area between the additional bar and first concave bar ensure a firm 'rub' so de-awners and fillers are not required.

An increased grain preparation pan angle and motion boosts the capacity to deliver more grain to the pan and improve the sample in the tank. The greater grain pan incline allows for more material flow from the main concave. The aggressive shaking motion speeds up transportation of the grain from the concave to cascade cleaning system.

The rotary separator’s speed and concave clearance can be adjusted easily to suit your crop, maximising separation and minimising straw damage.

By sensing the load on the cylinder and electronically varying the combine forward speed to match the crop, Constant Flow keeps the combine fully-loaded to increase output.

The innovative Venturi cleaning system matches the high output of the CH654C combine, enabling air to be pulled in from outside and distributed evenly over the sieve area. Air volume is also increased by 15% by the Venturi intake opening, guaranteeing more efficient cleaning than conventional systems without using more power.

The preparation floor guides the crop to the sieve area with quick movements and the higher material lift effectively separates the grain and chaff. Chaff is blown away by the powerful, even airflow between the two high steps to ensure an exceptionally clean sample.

This combine is equipped with a separate rethreshing system for optimum threshing capacity, reducing the load on the main threshing elements and increasing output. The Datavision terminal monitors the amount of returns material and the rethreshing intensity is manually adjusted to match the harvest conditions.

The large grain tank on the Challenger 654C has a 9,500-litre capacity with two fill level sensors to indicate that the grain tank is full well in advance. The unloading system can easily be controlled via the multi-function lever and a foot switch. The large unloading auger empties the grain tank quickly and the unloading speed can be adjusted electrically from the driver seat.

A solid engine cover offers safe and secure access to the grain tank and protects the engine from the elements while closed. When open it offers unrestricted access to the engine.

Two-piece side panels provide safe access for routine maintenance, and a detachable engine bay ladder enables the operator to reach every area.

The CH654C combine is powered by the latest generation Stage IIIB AGCO POWER engine with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) and DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst). This electronically controlled engine delivers the power needed for consistent and efficient harvesting in all conditions.

The benefit is approximately 10% less fuel consumption compared to previous versions plus the confidence that the engines are working as environmentally-friendly as possible within the regulations. As with other similar systems, these SCR engines require the use of AdBlue Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) which is placed in a separate 103 litre tank next to the main fuel tank.

The centralised cooling system is easily accessed for maintenance. Filling levels for the cooling and hydraulic systems can be seen externally and the large side panels of the combine can be lifted for access to both sides of the combines.
