John claims UK Technician of the Year trophy
31/12/2009
The Challenger Technician of the Year for the UK and Ireland 2009 is John Harvey from South Lincolnshire dealer, Chandlers.
An employee of Chandlers for 12 years, John has been looking after Challenger tracked tractors since 2002.
He explained that the expectations of Challenger customers are understandably high and that every effort is made to meet them. “They tend to be larger-scale, highly professional farmers for whom timing is a critical factor,” he says, “so we work closely with them to ensure that their machines perform at their peak whenever they’re needed.”
Adds Nigel Bean, Chandlers' Group Service Manager: “The people who purchase Challenger machines do so on the basis of costs per hour worked, forecasting as accurately as they can the amount of work they can achieve in a specific period of time. They make calculations of the required return on their investment, assuming maximum up-time. This means we have to provide the very best service, involving the most highly qualified people, with the best training.”
“Superior back-up and service are hallmarks of the Challenger experience, so it is important that we recognise and reward our people on the front line,” explains Charles Smith, Challenger Managing Director Europe, Africa and Middle East (EAME). “This new award is a great opportunity for the best to demonstrate their talents and personal qualities.”
John Harvey wins the Challenger Technician of the Year trophy for 2009 together with £400 of tool vouchers, courtesy of Drapers Tools. Runners-up trophies and £200 of Drapers Tools’ vouchers went to Dominic Christmas of North Yorkshire dealer Wilfred Scruton, and Mark North of Peacock & Binnington, North Lincolnshire.
